THE BEACON

The Beacon is the journalistic arm of LSESU’s Amnesty International Society. We have two major platforms: print – The Beacon Journal – and online – The Beacon Digest.

The Journal is published annually and aims to further Amnesty’s mission of shining a light on human rights issues on local, regional, and global levels. By providing an editorial outlet for students and interested contributors, we encourage activism and awareness through original pieces of research, academic articles, personal essays, interviews, as well contemporary and mixed media forms of advocacy such as photojournalism, poetry, and art. Every edition is tied to a theme, and this year’s is MOVING FORWARD.

The Digest provides our readers with bite-sized pieces of human rights advocacy. The content is more colloquial in nature, as we publish pieces that are more akin to current news and politics through various means of exposition.
